In the late 60s and early 70s the Black Power movement grew by leaps and bounds. Many saw revolution as the only viable path for Black Liberation. Over the past decades, a series of capitalist ideologies have become more common. Instead of “All Power to the People” some say the solution is to “Buy Black” and support Black owned busisnesses.
This is the first of a four part series on the history, legacy, and continuing relevance of the Black Panther Party. Founded in 1966 in the spirit of the politics of the late Malcolm X, and highly influenced by the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China, the Black Panther Party was a Black revolutionary Marxist-Leninist organization.
